Artificial nails acrylic vs gel?

I'm getting nails done and i need to know which one is better... Also I need aprox prices in Brisbane for each of themArtificial nails acrylic vs gel?
I've gotten mine done with both before. Gel is healthier for your nails, as it is thinner and lets your nails ';breathe'; more freely. The procedure takes a bit longer than acrylic and there is a price difference. I live in the U.S. and I got acrylics done for $30 per new set, but it's $50 each set for the gel kind. Silk wrap is suppose to be healthier, too, though I've never tried it before, as it takes them even longer to manually cut out each silk fabric to fit each of your nails----and of course, the price for that is even more than the gel.

As for your area, I would recommend that you call around town for a price comparison. One word of caution though, the cheapest-priced places are not always the most experienced to accomplish the most aesthetically-pleasing effects. So your best bet would be to also ask for how many years of experience a certain manicurist has in addition to the price quotes. If you're going to be paying about the same price range, it's better to book an appointment with one who has 10+ years of experience. That way, you also get the most honest recommendations than from someone who barely got their certification from beauty school and they just want to make money off of you by giving you high-priced recommendations for their own commissions. I don't know how the nail shops work in your area, but in most of the nail shops here, it's 40/60 between the manicurist and the shop owner (that is, for whatever price they charge for each type of service, it's 40% for the manicurist plus tips and 60% for the owner).
