I went and got my nails done a few days ago. I got acrylic ( white tips with a pink line right under the white, it sorta outlined it, ) And I guess that the person who did my nails never did the little underline b4 because he did it too far down. And he did it with the regular polish ( but with a smaller brush), so I was wondering could I take something small like a Q- tip and take the underline off without messing up the acrylic?..........or would I mess it up?Does nail polish remover mess up acrylic?
You have to make sure it says non-acetone on the bottle and it will be fine.Does nail polish remover mess up acrylic?
It will only take the polish off. It won't mess it up unless you soak your nails in it.

Hi can anyone advise me how to get gel/acrylic nails off?
Soak half a cotton wool ball in pure acetone, place on fingernail and wrap your fingertip in kitchen foil. Do this to all 5 nails on one. The foil heats up the acetone which speeds up the process a little and also stops the acetone evaporating which it does pretty quickly.
After 5-10 minutes take a finger out of its foil pod and buff any softened product off, replace in its pod and move onto next nail etc. Your cotton wool may need a top up of acetone along the way. Once you get down to a thin layer is should peel off pretty easy. . DONT pick it off if there is any resistance you will be picking off layers of your own nail and that is very damaging. Use a cuticle oil and/or handcream after to treat your fingers and nails and to replace some of the moisture the acetone has removed.Hi can anyone advise me how to get gel/acrylic nails off?
You could try acetone - you need to get it from a pharmacy and you want pure acetone, not just acetone nail polish remover.
I would NOT recommend it however. I used it once on my nail technicians advice and just did not have the patience to sit there for over three hours with my fingers freezing in a bowl of acetone. Go back to where you had the nails done and get them to do it professionally. Your nails will look a complete mess otherwise and you will have to wait for the whole nail to grow out before they are anything like decent again.Hi can anyone advise me how to get gel/acrylic nails off?
Well gel nails are very different than acrylics so it depends on which ones you have. if its just a gel top coat then they're still acrylics. To get acrylic nails off the best way is to soak them off with acetone. If you take them off yourself you'll end up peeling layers of your nail off, making them soft and sensitive. If you have gel nails the only way to get them off is by an electric file. And that you would have to go back to the place you got them done at.
DO NOT let some lazy nail tech peal those nails off. It is completely unnecessary, painful and LAZY.
I've never had gel nails. But when I've had my acrylic nails removed for a new set (it's just necessary sometimes) I've had them soaked off in acetone. It's a long process but you soak them and sand them down with the dremel tool and then soak them some more. It's MUCH gentler on your nails.
don't pull them off for starters and go to the salon where you had them done they will have a chemical like acetone that will soak them off or when will use an electronic tool to sand of the acrylic or gel but these can be nasty if they're left on the nail one second too long they can cause a ring of fire which is painful and permanently damages the nail and nail bed often ';chinese'; nail salons will use the electric sanding method
Use 100% Acetone nail polish remover. It will eat away the acrylic, and not harm your fingers. Its what the salons use when they take them off. Just soak a cotton ball in it, and rub, or let your nails soak in them. clip them down, and gently peal them off as they soften.
I bought a pot of something out of Superdrug... it had a kind of hole in the top where you put your finger in and soaked the nail, then turned it around and the nail popped off. I had to buff off the remainder of the glue etc..... I'll never have false nails again, they ruined my real ones!!!!
I can't remember the name of the pot, but it was pink, if that helps!!!
go get them off where you got them put on they have chemicals that you put your fingers in and it sits and they peel off after they been in thier for a little while .
otherwise im not sure riping them off would be such a good idea . Mabey thier is something you could buy at the store but im not sure .
if you had them done at a salon go back and ask them to remove them they should do this free of charge.otherwise soak your finger nails in nail polish remover they will loosen in a few minuits.be carefull not to yank them as this can be very damaging and painfull.

I really need help for my acrylic nails!!!?
Okay, my nails grew out very quickly after getting tips.
They started breaking, so today I soaked them in Acetone Fingernail Polish remover for 45 minutes.
When I took them out they were all nasty and gross and peeling.
Now they're all dry and nasty. I have a party tomorrow and I CAN'T go like this.
I really really really need help. PLEASE!I really need help for my acrylic nails!!!?
First be aware that although there is good information in some of the other responses, most of these folks do not know what they are talking about. What follows comes from an honest to goodness bonafide subject matter expert, so listen up!

Do NOT clip excess nail product from your nail bed. ALWAYS soak it off. Otherwise, you can do permanent damage to your nail bed. Do NOT put cheap drug store nails over the top of them because you can get a fungal infection in your nails.
You should have gone in and had your fill line buffed to your natural nail and the nails shortened, but it is too late now.
You should have used pure acetone, but it's too late for that now too.
So here's what you CAN do:
You can go and get your nails put back on, but if you do make sure you go to a reputable place that doesn't use MMA. (Some will tell you they don't when they do.) Make sure they use ';Creative Nail,'; or an alternate of similar quality.
Your other option is to go to the beauty supply and get a fine buffer block. You can get a product called ';calcium'; at Sally's Beauty Supply or similar reputable beauty supply shop. (Walgreen's indeed! If you want to purchase aspirin by all means go to Walgreen's. Don't buy their cheap beauty supply products.)
You will need a natural nail file to shape your nails. The fine buffer block will smooth the tops, but don't over buff them.
Apply the calcium as directed on the bottle. Apply color over the calcium if you like.
The calcium over time will build your nails stronger.
Your skin and nails are dry from the acetone, so you need to use a moisturizer on your fingers as well.
Oh, and please let the subject matter expert and me know how this all works out for you.
Good luck!I really need help for my acrylic nails!!!?
You removed the acrylic or began to, so all you can do is complete the process and get a new set put on.
fake nails stink. I just recently took mine off. You just need to make sure you clip all of the fake nail pieces off of your real nails with clippers. My real nails still look like complete crap - but I painted a couple of coats of clear nail polish on them to at least make sure a color coat would apply evenly instead of getting stuck in the crevices of my cracked nails. I then applied a pale pink /peach so that I wouldn't draw too much attention to my ugly nails, but if someone did look - at least I covered up the fact that they were so torn up with the multiple layers of nail polish applied.
Yeah, that's the problem with acrylic nails, they can really ruin your nails underneath. Once you've gotten all the acrylic off, do this: (oops, if you cant get it all off and smooth, then file them smooth. even the tops. seriously. not too hard tho).
THEN....
Soak your nails in warm olive oil (just warm some in a pan, pour it in a bowl) for about 20 minutes. Rub into your nails and cuticles really well, and then just kind of wipe off the rest.
Go to bed with some vicks vapo-rub smoothed into your nails (put some socks on) and they should be OK by tomorrow. You can file them a little bit, put some quick-dry polish on (remember, short nails with dark-dark polish is totally raging right now) and you'll be fine.
Good luck, kid!
Is going back to the nail salon out? If so I would say get a good nail file and buffer and work them over yourself. Try and file them all even and even them out with your finger nails. Then buff them real good. That will shine them up. Then try and paint them with either a really light color or a really dark color. Something that people won't be able to see the bumps and stuff.
Good luck. Also there is always cutting them off or like I always do, bite them off.
This might sound silly, but go to Walgreen's and buy a set of acrylic nails to put OVER the existing nails. This sound work for a quick easy cover-up, but get to your manicurist A.S.A.P
go to the nail salon
You should never soak acrylic nails in acetone. This will eat up and dissolve the nails and make them look cruddy. Acetone is what is used to remove nails at the nail salons. I'm sorry to say, but this is where you went wrong. You need to go back to the nail salon have them soak them off and get a new set.
I would go to the drug store and get some ';press-on'; nails to get you through the party. Then I would use the soaking in olive oil idea to re-nurish them. There are also products by Sally Hansen that are supposed to nourish your nails and keep them hard. However, to have really great natural nails, good vitamins are the trick! I've had good luck with gelatin too, but once I stop taking it my nails are weak in that area and eventually break when they grow out to that point. Pre-natal vitamins are great to get you going if they are in really bad shape. I
I've got a great nutritious smoothie recipe that is awesome if anyone is interested.

Artificial nails acrylic vs gel?
I'm getting nails done and i need to know which one is better... Also I need aprox prices in Brisbane for each of themArtificial nails acrylic vs gel?
I've gotten mine done with both before. Gel is healthier for your nails, as it is thinner and lets your nails ';breathe'; more freely. The procedure takes a bit longer than acrylic and there is a price difference. I live in the U.S. and I got acrylics done for $30 per new set, but it's $50 each set for the gel kind. Silk wrap is suppose to be healthier, too, though I've never tried it before, as it takes them even longer to manually cut out each silk fabric to fit each of your nails----and of course, the price for that is even more than the gel.
As for your area, I would recommend that you call around town for a price comparison. One word of caution though, the cheapest-priced places are not always the most experienced to accomplish the most aesthetically-pleasing effects. So your best bet would be to also ask for how many years of experience a certain manicurist has in addition to the price quotes. If you're going to be paying about the same price range, it's better to book an appointment with one who has 10+ years of experience. That way, you also get the most honest recommendations than from someone who barely got their certification from beauty school and they just want to make money off of you by giving you high-priced recommendations for their own commissions. I don't know how the nail shops work in your area, but in most of the nail shops here, it's 40/60 between the manicurist and the shop owner (that is, for whatever price they charge for each type of service, it's 40% for the manicurist plus tips and 60% for the owner).

Acrylic Nails? how to apply ? what to get price?
what the price of buying all the things needed to do Acrylic Nails urself?
what are the materials i need?

I know that some people will disagree with me, but thats OK.
I would suggest that if you are interested in doing nails that you attend a training program from an accredited school, especially if you are considering doing them on anyone other than yourself. Otherwise, I would leave it to a nail professional to do for you. There are simply too many things that can go wrong during the process, and you could end up with infections, contact dermatitis, and other, not so pretty things. Doing nails really is not as easy as it looks. It is something that needs to be done the right way, or not done at all.
One of the benefits of attending a good training program is that it will prepare you you take the tests which are necessary to get licensed in your state.
Being licensed not only allows you to work legally as a nail technician, but it also allows you access to professional products which are not for sale to the general public. This is done through distributors, and through local professional beauty supply stores.
The acrylic kits that you see in drugstores contain very low grade, poor quality products. Personally, I would never use one of these kits on my own nails, or anyone elses.
But if anyone else wants to tell you what you need to buy, and the prices, and so on, then go for it. But for professional reasons, I cannot advise you on this.Acrylic Nails? how to apply ? what to get price?

What kind of acrylic nails?
i want to get acrylic nails, which type gives the illusion of a natural nail? is the gel acrylic good? and how do i tell my beautitians to do it for me short without making them look wide and not natural. What kind of acrylic nails?
Instead of getting a white tips, you could ask for the natural ones instead. These would look more natural looking than white tips look. For the length...when they are done applying all 10 tips, they will ask you how long you want them. You can show them how long you want your nails and they will cut them however long you want.
Gel acrylic is more natural looking than regular acrylic. Its supposed to last longer too, Usually they also cost a little more.but I guess its worth it. It depends on where you go. If you look around you can find a lot of salons that do really good nails for like $20-$25. It depends where you live because some charge even less than that, and others charge a little more. I've had gel acrylic before and yeah, I liked them. They put them on the same way as they put regular acrylic nails on. They use a special powder to make the gel. You could try Solar Nails. These are a different color usually pink and white. Solar Nails are better because they last a lot longer and are much stronger too. Since they aren't acrylic, they won't damage your nails as much though the tech will still have to grind your nails to make them stick. They do this with any nails so they stay on..Your nails will hurt for a day or two after getting them but this is totally normal. After that they won't hurt any more until you have them removed. Thats the worst part of having nails. They take them of really quick so it won't hurt for long, just while they are doing it, You can take them off yourself but I find it hurts even more, so I let them do it for me. You can go back for fills every few weeks if you want to. I sometimes do that but I think its better for your nails to take them off after a few weeks. That way your nails can breathe which is really important because they really need to breathe and if you have nails on they cant do this. So just take them off every few weeks and let them breathe for two or three weeks. During that time you can always paint your nails if you want to. Using clear polish will make them strong. Sally Hansen makes nail stuff thats good for your nails. There are others you can buy but Sally Hansen really is the best because it works so good and its good for your nails too because it makes them healthy and strong and grow faster too.
Good luck and enjoy your nails! What kind of acrylic nails?
if you really want artificial nails, the two types you can narrow in to are the acrylic set or the Gel Set, Gel Set is more better for people who wants the natural nail look, but then you'd have to have good natural nail under it, if you don't have the natural nail under it. you can try to get the acrylic, and ask for the american manicure, its the most natural look. American Manicure by the way is like a sister to the French manicure. Instead of being so white on white, its an off white. Ivory more natural color. Also remind the technician that you like your nails narrows and thin/short, but still want a durable feel to them, so that u can be able to carry on the rest of the day without breaking a nail. And when painting the american on you'd like the American to be painted on thinner so the off white should be painted on at a 1/3 of the nail or 1/4 depending on how long your nail bed is.prom hair

if you really want artificial nails, the two types you can narrow in to are the acrylic set or the Gel Set, Gel Set is more better for people who wants the natural nail look, but then you'd have to have good natural nail under it, if you don't have the natural nail under it. you can try to get the acrylic, and ask for the american manicure, its the most natural look. And when painting the american on you'd like the American to be painted on thinner so the off white should be painted on at a 1/3 of the nail or 1/4 depending on how long your nail bed is.
I just got acrylic nails put on and my fingers hurt sooo bad! I can barely type.?
my hands are like throbbing! I have had my nails done twice and it usually is uncomfortable for a few days but no this painful. should i take them off or do you think i have an infection or something?? or any advice? thanks!I just got acrylic nails put on and my fingers hurt sooo bad! I can barely type.?
Having your nails done should never hurt, or be uncomfortable in any way.
More often than not, this is the direct result of going to an unskilled tech who uses a Dremel drill, or a similar type of tool on your natural nails. They tend to overfile them, and the end result is paper thin nails which hurt for quite a while afterward. In this case, the damage has already been done, and taking them off will not make any difference.
Where you go to have your nails done make a big difference. If you go to an experienced, thoroughly trained, and highly skilled tech, your nails will never hurt from having any type of nail services done. A good tech would never use a Dremel type of tool on your natural nails. This is totally unnecessary, and its unhealthy as well.
My suggestion is to avoid the cheap nail places, and find a good tech instead. It may cost more, but its worth every cent. For help in finding a well qualified tech in your area, use these links. BTW, I have absolutely nothing to gain by posting these links. I am not associated with them in any way, nor will I profit from anyone using them. I am posting these strictly as a reference, and nothing more.

Bacterial infections from the manicurist are becoming increasingly common. New forms of Staph bacteria are raging through salons. You may lose some fingers. At a minimum, you may be hospitalized. Or maybe you shouldn't be typing with those ridiculously long talons...
i kno the feeling. the first day u get them on, it hurts a little but the next couple days, its def hard to type or do anything! but the pain goes down n its worth it in my opinion. if they hurt u too much, mayb u should take them off but i wouldnt say u have an infection bcuz all the drilling and irritation to ur real nails are wuts making them hurt. itll go away soon if u wait it out =)
I think you should take them off like.. as soon as possible.. now? It's not worth the pain. And also you risk infecting your finger nail.
Take a look at this:

um look for any signs of broken skin and cover them up with some cream.
when ur typing, type with the middle part of ur finger so it dsnt hurt so much xD
Did you have a different nail technician put them on this time? Sometimes if they are too rough or put too much pressure on the nail bed or cuticles at the time of application it can be irritating and take a few days for your nails to become less sensitive to pressure and touch. Signs of infection to your fingers would be redness, swelling, and possibly feeling hot to the touch in the red areas. Signs of fungal infection under the acrylic nails would be discoloration, ranging from green to dark black. Keep an eye out as to what things look like over the next couple of days. If it is just painful because the application was a little rough, having them removed right away can just make this worse. I'd just wait for a little bit and see what happens - if things get better, great, if things stay the same, get them removed, if things get worse - go see a doctor.

well, you can get pure acetone and soak your nails in them for some time until you feel that the nails are getting soft. then it would be easy to pull them off.

soak them in fingernail polish remover that contains acetone it might take a little while for them to weaken but they wil eventually come off
Cut your nails as short as you can with toenail clippers. If the nails are two weeks old they can be somewhat loose. Pry the nails from the sides with something very thin like another plastic nail like the kind you glue on. You might have to soak them but that takes forever. You do realize you can go to any nail shop and they will take them off for you for about $10.
umm well my aunt had done that and we took them off with pliers! ouch.. i dont recomend this unless u ;ike pain. lolz
wel when i get acrylic nails after 2 weeks i just pull them off. or go get a retouch.
other then that i can t help u.
oh wait u can go back to the salon if u got them there. and u can ask the lady to take em off of go to a sallys shop and ask 4 remover.
good luck!

For nails tech. only can i clean my acrylic brush with pure acetone whithout causing damage to the brush?
the acrylic brush brush its very expensive so please help me thanks. For nails tech. only can i clean my acrylic brush with pure acetone whithout causing damage to the brush?
when using pure acetone to clean excess acrylic product, or hardened acrylic from any brush.. you should keep acetone only on the bristles, not the metal or the handle...
and do not leave for long time,, i find that a few minutes, then check it remove any loose residue, then soak again, and remove any more residue...
the longer you leave the brush to soak the more damage it will do...
also, cleaning it a bit more after every use so it doesn't get clumpy again.. brushes cost too much to waste them...prom hair

Overlays arnt actual extensions, its just a layer of gel/acrylic over your own natural nail, to strengthen them. Acrylics last longer, but arnt very good for your nails, gel is alot better and has more of a shine and a 'natural' look to them, to some extent. Find a salon that uses acrygel. With this system you get the best of both, The strength of acrylic, without any damage, but the shine and durability of gel. Also if you do go for acrylic try not to go to a Vietnamese salon, they will last forever, but the use the electric buffer etc and you will fine, when you have soaked them off your natural nails will be very very thin xxWhat nails are better? Gel, acrylic, overlays or fibreglass?
I've done gel and I've also done acrylic. Gel is good because it won't ruin your nails like acrylic does BUT if you don't get your nails done every 2 weeks, the wrap can fall off. It's less likely to fall off with acrylic but they do damage your nail.
why do people answer this and say Natural Ones? that's not the question!!
Gel paint on your own nails is great %26amp; looks much more natural...but, as Brown Eyed Girl says...you need maintenance every 2-3 weeks for an infill of Gel. i have mine done all of the time...they look really lovely.
Gels are the best because they dont lift off or break easily, and they look the best the gel producess a high gloss finish which is good if you don't want to wear a nail polish.

How to remove acrylic nails un-professionally?
quickly...? any know how?How to remove acrylic nails un-professionally?
Get a bowl full of acetone and soak your fingers in it for 15 minutes. They will dissolve and come off. It's the best way. I do it anytime I have them. Don't try to bite them off, its a waste of time. How to remove acrylic nails un-professionally?
You can get this stuff, you put your finger in it and hold it in there for about 2 minutess and it dissolves the glue. It also makes the nail go softer so you can pull it off easy.
ugh i had these for the first time at prom and i hated them! lol you have to wait until they get air under the edges and then pop them off with your thumb nail or teeth...it's annoying but it got mine off!
ahhh!! don't bite them off.. go to the drug store and get acetone nial polish remover, pour it in a bowl and soak them for 20 min.

Why does your finger tips throb after having acrylic nails put on? mine are hurting!?
they probably hurt because, either, the acrylic nails are too small or too big for your nail bed, the nail technician has buffed your nail too much, the glue may have been attached to your skin aswell as your nail bed so it might be stretching and tearing your skin around your nail bed.
the chemical reaction that happens with the glue and the acrylic can cause some heat but not really enough for you too feel and if u do it wouldnt last very long. i would try soaking your nails in just cool water or rub some vaseline around your cuticles that may help. if u want to remove them just soak your nails in a bowl of acetone or nail varnish remover that has acetone in it and it'll melt the nails, then they are easy to remove, plus u dont have to pay the salon to remove them :)Why does your finger tips throb after having acrylic nails put on? mine are hurting!?
I get my nails done all the time and they hurt bc its pressure on ur nails just like braces it will go away
Why does your finger tips throb after having acrylic nails put on? mine are hurting!?
yeah mine used to , ecspecially if they were new, its because they pull your fingers around so much doing them.
If the pain does not go by I dont know tomorrow if you had them done today, i would go back or phone and say they are really hurting.
They do take some getting used to, dont open any cans with them, and be careful not to snap them off, pputting the key in the door etc, really hurts
Sometimes you get some one that buffs too much and then they put those chemicals on them and you don't have as thick a real nail to protect you.........try someone different next time you get your nails done.
Do you have to wear acrylic nails? I don't wear that, am cool with my natural nails...Maybe you should try it!
Could be because the tip is too small for your own nail, or maybe the side of the tip is digging into your skin at the side, this happens to me occasionally.
I found this as well, and ended up having to have them removed. The beautician in the shop where I had them done, said that this happens to some people, but didn't give a reason why
I'm wondering whether it's the glue that is contracting as it dries.
B/c they file your entire nail down to rough up the nail, so the acrylic sticks on well.
I'd definitely try somewhere else next time your fingers shouldn't be hurting. I have been having my nails done for the last few years and would be furious if my fingers hurt when I left the salon. Don't go back there!!

They hurt because before you got your acrylics on they fied your nail down, once they are removed you are left with only your thin nail. I had acrylics for about 5 years and I dealt with that same issue all the time. My advice soak them in warm water for about 5 minutes, it will relieve a little bit of the pain. If you really want my advice stop getting them. I have been acrylic nail free for over 2 years, and I get so many compliments on my nails, I make sure I get manicures every two weeks and my nails are now healthy

Is it ok to get acrylic nails if u only do it once in a awhile?
like only get like 1 fill then take them off and wait two or three monthsIs it ok to get acrylic nails if u only do it once in a awhile?
Since you're waiting two to three months in between acrylics then that is fine because you're giving a chance for your nails to breathe, regrow, and restrengthen themselves. Is it ok to get acrylic nails if u only do it once in a awhile?
When acrylic nails are taken off you lose layers of your nails no matter how careful you are. I had acrylic nails for 3 yrs. I would get the filled every 3 weeks for 6 months then get them taken off %26amp; left off for about a week then put bach on. My nails were very weakened %26amp; actually ugly looking for about a year after that. They did recover %26amp; look better than ever. No matter what as longa s you go to a good salon your nails will recover. It's kinda like getting a bad perm. Your hair will look like crap for a while but it will grow out. Your nails are the same.
that wouldn't be to go considering that time per. Every time you put them on you're nails are getting no oxygen it can cause them to die and then they well never grow again. If you leave it on for a week ro two it wouldn't hurt thought but it's rly hard to get them off.
yes it ok just leave it on for 3 weeks at most because then your nails will weaken... and the more time you have them on the more layers of your nail will come off when you take off the acrylic nails!!!
PS. I luv acrylic nails the designs lol
Yeah that's perfectly fine. Whatever floats your boat

They hold the polish better than real nails cause there is no oil coming off of them like your natural nails. They are way stronger than natural nails. I've had them for years because i used to bite my nails and that was the only way I could have nice looking nails.

Is it safe to wear acrylic nails during pregnancy??
I'm 7 weeks and I haven't been to the doctor yet... so i can't ask him. Anyone have any advice?? Is it safe??Is it safe to wear acrylic nails during pregnancy??
I'm a cosmetologist and my doc said as long as I'm not ingesting the chemicals or pouring them in my open wounds then it's safe. However, you do have to be concerned of the fumes in the shop getting to you. Request a mask from the tech or bring your own... they wear them, you should too.
Congrats on the new baby!!Is it safe to wear acrylic nails during pregnancy??
i read on google after you are 6 weeks or past that that it isnt good to get them
The problem with acrylic nails is more the fumes in the salon when you are getting them put on and filled. Those fumes can be very bad for baby. It would probably be better to go ahead and have them removed.
Don't despair though, with both my pregnancies people thought I had fake nails because your nails get so strong and grow so fast while you are pregnant. Within a couple of months they will look as good as the fake ones.
yes its safe
Its safe to wear them but try not to breathe too much of the chemicals in when you are getting them done. I usually go early in the morning when they first open so its not so bad.
yes it is. i wore them throughout most of my pregnancy. i just recently took them off and i am in my 3rd trimester.
yes! why wouldnt it be%26gt;?
Yes i get my nails re-filled every 3 weeks and its fine. Good luck with the pregnancy congrats!!!
Everyone i know that is currently pregnant including myself wears them? i have never heard of this but this is interesting and i will pay attention to what answers you get.
Umm YES.
its safe to wear them but the fumes can be dangerous. also, when i had my nails done, it was a waste of money becaue of the rise in hormone levels and prenatal vitamins my nails were growing way too fast for the acrylic ones.
I'm sure the nails are safe, but the fumes you smell at the salon are definitely not. That glue is toxic and i would not sit and breath it in for half an hour while they stick your nails on. I'm a bit fanatical though, i wont get my hair dyed or even wear nail polish because of toxic fumes.
why not?
sure. just dont inhale the chemicals. congrates !
I Believe Its Safe But I Dont Know If I Would Do It due To All The Fumes! Good Luck And Congrats On The Baby!

How many people have some type of tips on their nails? If so are the gel, acrylic or something else?
Hun, solar nails are acrylic nails. Nothing different about them at all except for the price.
To answer your question, I have a two color glitter fade done in UV gels. No plastic tips for me, thanks. These are sculpted. How many people have some type of tips on their nails? If so are the gel, acrylic or something else?
I started off having tips on my nails. I started off with acrylic. Now I am on to solar nails which is sort of like acrylic, but instead of having color painted on or airbrushed on the tips you can have different colors on the tip. This lasts longer because the color doesn't flake off.How many people have some type of tips on their nails? If so are the gel, acrylic or something else?
I use fake nails and get my real nails done too. I actually have acrylic nails on right now ;) I love them since my nails are kinda hard to grow.

Where can i get dollar bills in my acrylic nails?
No, not just 'any' salon will be able to do this for you. There are quite a few that can do it for you, but you have to find the right one to get the job done properly. Airbrushing them on is a cheap looking way of doing this kind of nail art. What you seem to be looking for is having actual pieces of a dollar bill embedded in the acrylic and yes, many techs can do that for you. The key is to find a nail tech who has a good amount of skill with real nail art - not with airbrushing like they do in the discount salons on every street corner and in every strip mall where these places are usually located. It may take a while to find some good, but keep looking and you'll evnyually find one. They are out there, but I'll tell you this much - really good nail artists don't work in discount salons. So, skip those places that charge like $25 or less for a full set of acrylics because these people are typically unskilled, and therefore not capable of doing this type of nail.Where can i get dollar bills in my acrylic nails?

Wut is the difference between gel nails and acrylic nails!!?
if u dont know the answer dont say anything!!!
please logical answers!Wut is the difference between gel nails and acrylic nails!!?
acrylic nails stick on-gel nails are put on-powder and a solvantWut is the difference between gel nails and acrylic nails!!?
Gel and acrylic nails are 2 distinctly different methods to achieve the same result. The natural nail is ';roughed'; with a soft file and the extension nail glued on, often with super glue, then the acrylic powder is mixed with the activator liquid and painted from cuticle to tip and then left to harden. Buffed and painted any way you like.
Gel nails are a about the same process except for the fact that the gel does not need an activator liquid to make them harden, air or a UV lamp does the work. The result is the same as once it is hardened they paint up the same. Fills are usually done about every 2 weeks for both and both will have a build up on top of the nail over time, this gets filed down as you go in for fills.
Hope this helps answer your question.

when it grows out they need to put new gel in there and re-shape them. Also many places re-due the color since the color usually fadesprom hair
Nail technicians out there! Problem with acrylic.?
Hi. I have a technician that does my nails at home. I like her designs very much and the first set of nails was wonderful. Unfortunately, just after taking a shower before bed time, I noticed that the acrylic was lifting at the nail bed. She did do some buffing and applied primer. This never happend to me before when serviced by other technicians. I'm wondering if she's doing something wrong or if the acrylic she's using is poor quality. I don't no what brand it is.
I'd like recommendations on best brands of acrylic and any other suggestions. I've thought of buying my own product and ask her to use it instead. Thanks!Nail technicians out there! Problem with acrylic.?
There can be a few reasons why they are lifting...product too thick, too close to the cuticle, or she my have not prepped the nail bed properly for the application of the acrylic. More than likely it's not the product it's the nail tech. I've been using the same brand for 10 yrs Creative nail...and no problems You might want to find a new nail techNail technicians out there! Problem with acrylic.?
creative nail design is the best, imho. lifting can happen for several reasons. nothing to stress about. just make sure you take the nails off completely after about 6 weeks and make sure you have no fungus.
It has to do with her technique and not properly prepping the nail.

After taking off Acrylic nails....how do you get your real nails back to ';normal';?
Unfortunately, the answers quoting 6 months are the truth. Since the nail that appears is actually already dead, there is nothing you can do except to use hand lotion regularly to at least keep your nails moisturized and flexible, and eat a balanced diet to give yourself the nutrients needed to produce healthy nails. 6 months is the average time that it takes for your nail to completely regrow, so that it will be all natural and healthy, and have the damaged portions grown out. After taking off Acrylic nails....how do you get your real nails back to ';normal';?
I cant stand that damage line that comes with acrylic nails, it takes a month or longer to grow out. I would start taking a good multivitamin, and use those strength and hardening polishes. I have a really skinny painful line on mine now near the cuticle, Makes me not want to do acrylics anymore! Good Luck!!After taking off Acrylic nails....how do you get your real nails back to ';normal';?
It depends on how well the acrylics were applied, and how they were removed. If the nails were overfiled at application and/or if the nails were pried off instead of soaked off it will take longer. In 6 months, your nails should have grown to new in any case.
use nail hardner. and then you just have to sit and wait. it took mine 6 months to be normal again.
takes time. use strengtheners to speed up process
take a plastic bowl, put a little bit of nail polish remover inside, and fill the bowl up 3/4 of the way with warm water. Then soak your fingers in the water for about 5 minutes. Then take the orange stick (the stick you get with the nails) and scrape off the glue gently.

What are the contra indications for acrylic and gel nails?
does any one know what the contra indications for acrylic and gel nailsWhat are the contra indications for acrylic and gel nails?
As an educator for Nail Professionals as well as a practicing nail tech I find most common, people seem to not know the diffrences between Gel and acrylic services as due to lack of knowledge on the techs part, communication barrier or that the tech wants to scam the costumer into beleving that they got a quality product for a cheap price or all the above!!!
The industry has come up with an alternative to the traditional nitrocellulose-based product that we are all familiar with on the market today. Gel nails are a new, more natural looking alternative to acrylic nail extensions. Unlike acrylics, the UV gel used to create the nails has no discomforting odors and no hazardous ingredients. There is no glue involved in the process except to put on tips before the application if neccesary but not needed, eliminating unnecessary nail damage caused by lifting. Gel nails are created with a layer of base gel, brushed into a mold then cured by UV Lamps: 9 watt, 18 watt, or 36 watt at 110 volts depending on cure rate desired. Gel nails are limitless in their design capabilities, and can even be reinforced with fiberglass for extra strength and repairs purposes. They are also available in a choice of natural, basic color choices mainly the basic color wheel red, blue, yellow, blacketc to pastelcolors to enhance the natural look of the nail bed or to add some flare and go with a daring black french. In short, gel nails are an extremely natural-looking enhancement: thin, clear, flexible, non-yellowing, nonporous, while resist lifting. Gel nails can be used for natural nail overlays (actually one of the most difficult techniques, but looks the easiest to achieve), tip overlays, and sculpted onto forms for short extensions, and to help encapsulate a damaged free-edge as it grows out. These have been used mainly by nail salons Gel nails are the future of the nail industry. 90% of the nail business in Europe is based on gels, and the United States will also be using gels within 5 to 10 years. Gel nails are up and coming probably the next hot service that salon clients will demand. No other service can give clients both a natural nail look and feel combined with the convenience and durability of acrylic nails. Many clients have tired of acrylic nails in this past two decades because of the disadvantages that can be associated with them (such as the odors, lifting and nail damage, and components such as MMA, etc). These same clients now flock to salons in record numbers for ';natural nail'; manicures with many spa type add-ons to increase the service price. However, many of these clients have already grown weary of the weekly appointments and rigorous home maintenance requirements of ';natural'; nails. They want another alternative; they want natural beauty combined with strength and durability. Now we can deliver to the clients what they really want - convenience as well as durability. Some major benefits of gel nails are that they are odorless, they have a thin, flexible, natural feeling on the nail, and they are clear and extremely lightweight. Traditional acrylics harden in about 10 minutes, but they can take 24 hours or more to fully cure. Ultra violet gel nails harden in about 15-30 seconds and cure in about 2 minutes. They are simple one-component UV gels. These are not temporary nails that are applied with adhesives, they are extensions of one's natural nails. The UV gel is a multifunctional product and can be even used for nail sculpting. Clients want and are willing to pay for high-end services. Just as the top department stores have defined a separate niche for themselves from the K-Mart type stores, so will gel nails be distinguished from many other nail care services. Gel nails will never be a discount service offered in a discount salon atmosphere. Gel nails are a long term, lifestyle choice. The type of consumer looking for only a quick fix of short term or temporary nails (such as party nails). While some salons will always cater to quantity sales such as walk-in type business, the gel nail philosophy demands commitment and planning and so will attract a clientele that is compatible with that service level. Just as Nieman Marcus does not compete with K-Mart, neither will gel nail salons compete with discount salons. These are two very different market segments with two very different price points and a lot safer to use than what is currently available on the market today
The acrylic nails that are created by mixing a powder with a liquid. Nail techs literally paint and shape the nails into place using this mixture. The liquid recommended by most professional nail technicians is Ethyl Methacrylate, or EMA. Ethyl Methacrylate is a little more expensive than its alternative, Methyl Methacrylate or MMA. Methyl Methacrylate is commonly used because it is more cost-effective and is deemed a ';black market under the table product'; due to it being banned for use by the FDA. However, MMA is linked to a number of harmful side effects, including skin irritations and irregular nail growth. MMA -Methyl Methacrylate is an ingredient that was commonly used in early ';nail porcelains or acrylics.';
In the early 1970鈥檚, the Food and Drug Administration received numerous complaints of personal injuries associated with the use of acrylic monomer formulated with MMA and then banned by the FDA.
The reports included serious nail damage or loss, contact dermatitis, organ damage from long term use, soreness and infection due to breaks caused by rigidly adhered acrylic.
Most nail tech's that still use Acrylic including me urge customers to choose Ethyl Methacrylate for acrylic use because of its quality. Excellent material choices and proper nail care insures consumers that their nails will enhance their hands with style and safety.
Once care and maintenance are in place, a regular acrylic nail customer can concentrate on nail color, design and trends. One of the classic nail color combinations is found in the French manicure. This design is simply a natural nail color accompanied by white tips. This is a popular option for many women because the colors compliment any outfit. Some customers are a little more daring and want to play with color. Nail techs create a plethora of designs ranging from stars to little murals of famous paintings.
In addition to color, many people choose to add a little sparkle. Nail technicians offer inserts that are imbedded right into the acrylic. Some more exotic choices include tiny gems and stickers that come in a huge range of shapes, designs and colors. What are the contra indications for acrylic and gel nails?
Just a clairfication. Gel nails are non-porous. Thats why they are not soakable in acetone. In order to remove them, they must be filed off. Though there are a few brands of soakable gels on the market, they are not widely used. All traditional UV gels are non-soakable. Thus, they do not 'breathe.' However, gels are definitely better for your nails though all artificial nails will cause damage to some degree after wearing them for some time. How much damage is done really depends on the technician, and the products they are using. There are so many unskilled techs out there who will ruin your nails for you. No need for acrylic, or gel, LOL! And poor quality products will damage your nails much quicker than top quality products, especially if they have MMA in them. That stuff is really bad for your nails. No wonder it was banned for use on nails over 25 years ago by the FDA. But, still many of the cheap salons still use it because it costs next to nothing to buy the stuff. Those are the salons to avoid at all costs.

That was an editorial piece written by a man named Nick Morante back in April of 2007.
The other half consists of almost verbatim plagarism from:

(With a couple of words thrown in here and there to personalize it a bit, but nevertheless, it is plagarism at its finest).
Thank You for asking this question as i have asked my lady that does my nails if i should have it taken off for a while to let them breath as they are acrylic, she has assured me my nails will be ok my daughters nails have gone all white %26amp; brittle.
gel is porous and allows the nails to 'breath' therefore doesnt damage them as much. acrylic isnt as nice but it is more hardwearing
Gel is supposed to be kinder on the nails but I have had both and they both leave the nails damaged and easily broken.

The acrylic nails that are created by mixing a powder with a liquid. Nail techs literally paint and shape the nails into place using this mixture. The liquid recommended by most professional nail technicians is Ethyl Methacrylate, or EMA. Ethyl Methacrylate is a little more expensive than its alternative, Methyl Methacrylate or MMA. Methyl Methacrylate is commonly used because it is more cost-effective and is deemed a ';black market under the table product'; due to it being banned for use by the FDA. However, MMA is linked to a number of harmful side effects, including skin irritations and irregular nail growth. MMA -Methyl Methacrylate is an ingredient that was commonly used in early ';nail porcelains or acrylics.';

Thank You for asking this question as i have asked my lady that does my nails if i should have it taken off for a while to let them breath as they are acrylic, she has assured me my nails will be ok my daughters nails have gone all white %26amp; brittle.
gel is porous and allows the nails to 'breath' therefore doesnt damage them as much. acrylic isnt as nice but it is more hardwearing
Gel is supposed to be kinder on the nails but I have had both and they both leave the nails damaged and easily broken.
How do i do my own acrylic nails at home?
Buy a kit and follow the instructions. It's best if you've actually seen it done by a professional then you have a better idea of how to brush it on properly and file it down. How do i do my own acrylic nails at home?
With a very steady hand....
I can manage one hand but the other one is usually a little wobbly and needs more filing afterwards. How do i do my own acrylic nails at home?
Don't do fake nails!! I used them two years ago and I'm still trying to grow my nails out. Everytime I took them off, they peeled off a layer of my nails. They also make your nails soft and fragile. I really don't recommend using acrylics.

Acrylic nails do or a dont?
I love acrylic nails should i get them again ?? i think thay make my fingers look nicer.... the only thing i dont like about them is that most places cost a lot of money to get them and they leave your nails all ugly when u take them off ....do or a dont ???Acrylic nails do or a dont?
Don't. I used to have them and I feel like they ruined my nails, although temporarily. Also, you have to get balances and things like that that cost money. My cosmetologist friend told me not to do it. She said I should get a good manicure from a professional and ask about how to maintain the manicure at home. you can use acrylic to prevent breakage and a whitening pencil for a french manicure. you should grow your nails on your own.Acrylic nails do or a dont?
I agree about the fact that acrylics ruin your natural nails, but I also think that acrylics look better and they don't break as easy, not to mention polish stays on a lot longer, too! I say go for it! And if you're worried about your natural nails, just keep the acrylics for a short time to minimize the damage. Also, there are definitely a lot of good strengthening nail polishes that you can use after removing the acrylics. Good luck!
When I got my nails done for the Christmas Dance, I regreted it after taking them off. If you already have them, I would go to a nail place and get them removed for a while.
You can also go to Wal-Mart and get an Acrylic Nail Remover which you just soak your nails in, which is what i did, and it takes FOREVER. But either one works well.
After removing them, get a manicure. And Paint them with Some kind of polish that will strengthen them.
Drink a lot of milk, and after about a month or so, get them done again if you really want to.
However, with the amount of money it is, and then the result you get after the removal, i think its only worth it for special occasions.
One more thing, if you let your nails grow quite long, and go to a nail place and get a manicure, tell them you want them squared, paint them a solid color, and they look EXCATLY like acrylics.
Hope it helped!

A question about acrylic nails?
Hi. I've never gotten my nails done before. So I'm really confused. I want to get like small french tips. But I don't know if i need a manicure before i do it. Or are the french tips a manicure? I'm SO confused. It's hopeless. Lol. Plz help me.A question about acrylic nails?
getting french tips and a manicure are basically the same thingA question about acrylic nails?
LOL yeeee they manicure your nails first anyways so dun worry bout it.
but be careful they damage your nails dramatically the first time.
chipping is so bad
No you don't need a manicure first.
The white tip is the french part and they put pink acrylic over it. They will buff your nail surface and then apply primer to help the acrylic adhere to your natural nail.

I just glued on some acrylic nails(bought and did them myself)...?
What is the easiest way to take them off other than just pulling them off or letting them fall off?I just glued on some acrylic nails(bought and did them myself)...?
DO NOT SOAK THEM IN ACETONE!!!!! When you take acrylic nails off, your nails will be ruined a little bit already, and soaking them in acetone will only make it worse. Acetone is the worst thing you can do for your nails. Go to a drugstore or pharmacy, and buy an artificial nail remover soak. It will dissolve the nail, and the glue. And never try to pull them off, it will hurt and ruin your nails also, and it will leave glue stuck to your nail bed, that will last for weeks.I just glued on some acrylic nails(bought and did them myself)...?
Start by filing the nails down as much as possible, then file the actual face of the artificial nail so it is rough.
Then get a bowl of warm water (not boiling but hot), then fill a smaller (acetone friendly) bowl with acetone or nail polish remover with acetone in it and float this bowl in the bowl of warm water.
Soak your nails in the acetone in the smaller bowl for about 10 mins (the heat from the warm water will speed up the chemical process). Then remove and using a nail file gentle file away the acrylic/silk. If there is still lot of the product left on your nail soak your nails for a further 10 mins.
After you have removed all the artificial nail, wash your hands and apply lots of hand cream as acetone is very drying to the skin.
Soaking them in acetone is the quickest and easiest way. However if you don't have any acetone regular nail polish remover works as well it might just take a bit longer.
Get a bowl , and dip your hands into hot water ... that will probably loosen the glue a little ... Oh yea ; you can also dip your nails into nail polish remover =]
people recommend soaking in acetone. I just put some on, and 1 already fell off (its only been 1 hour!), so i wouldnt worry about that too much.
soak them in warm water for half an hour a few times today, it will break up the glue and it will be much easier for them to come off.

Can I file off my acrylic nails?
They're really bothering me. I filed them to be shorter because they are just annoying me so much, but I'm wondering...since I don't have any acetone or money to buy it, if I can just work a nail file on them, then buff out my original nail so it wouldn't look as bad.
Would this work? Can I file off my acrylic nails?
Yes, but it is not recommended. Are you being serious when you say that you cannot afford acetone? I mean, a small bottle of acetone only costs $2 or so. Just a thought...Can I file off my acrylic nails?
Not speaking from personal experience, but you have to be a REALLY good filer. You could do it unevenly, it'll take some time, and you can file your real nails to make them uneven.
Not like us guys care anyway. The last thing we look at on a girl are her nails.
Please answer mine:

Yes you can file them, but it will take some time. Once you get past the nail tip it will become really hard. I suggest going to a nail shop and letting the nail tech remove them. Most nail shops only charge $5-$10 to remove them.

Lately I've been thinking about replacing my acrylic nails (with french tips) with gels?
but first I wonder: how does gel hold up vs acrylic? Before I got the french tips, with acrylic alone, they were always chipping. Do gels do this? I think they look better and wonder if I should change. What are the differences? Advice?Lately I've been thinking about replacing my acrylic nails (with french tips) with gels?
i switched from acrylics to gels. i like them so much better. they don't chip, like the acrylics. they also look much better when they are filled. the only downfall is that they aren't as strong as acrylics, so if you break acrylics easily, then you will really break these.Lately I've been thinking about replacing my acrylic nails (with french tips) with gels?
The gel is much nicer and has a much cleaner look. However, it is more expensive. I don't think it is worth the price. What I like most about it is that you can easily wipe it off. If pen ink gets on it, you can just wife it off with a little soap and water. It won't stay on it like on the regular nail polish.
I like gel better they seem more real.
I switched from acrylic to gels a few months ago. Gels don't chip anymore than acrylics BUT the lines from where you have had them filled are easier to see. Good part about gels is that they look better, they don't get yellowish like acrylics can, mine don't break or lift as much, and they are better for your nails (or at least the nail guy said they were). Bad part about gels is that they take longer to fill and they cost more so not too much bad about them.
AS A LICENSED NAIL TECH, I PREFER GELS OVER ACRYLIC ANY DAY!! (I AM TALKING ABOUT THE GELS THAT CURE UNDER A UV LIGHT - NOT POWDER GEL). MY CLIENTS ENJOY THE MORE NATURAL LOOK THAT GELS GIVE, AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT THEY ARE LESS DAMAGING TO THE NATURAL NAIL. AS FAR AS STRENGTH GOES, I FIND THEM JUST AS STRONG, IF NOT MORE SO. ALSO, THE GEL CURES TO A HIGH SHINE, ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR BUFFING AND/OR CLEAR POLISH FOR SHINE. THIS IS A BIG PLUS IF YOU PREFER THE FRENCH LOOK, LIKE YOU MENTIONED. ANOTHER STRONG POINT IS THE FACT THAT GELS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ODOR--GREAT FOR SENSITIVE NOSES!!! I SAY GO FOR IT, YOU'LL LOVE THEM.
I agree, gels are way better (for me anyway). I didn't have any chipping that I can remember (i don't wear them anymore).
well if i get mine done i get the whie tip but i think its acrylic but mine stayed on for like a month or so and it didnt chip!

Should i get gel or acrylic nails?
okay... which kind of fake nails should i get. gels or acrylics? i dont want to ruin my nailbeds TOO much, and i'm only getting fake nails because im a nailbiter and i want to grow my natural nails out. i'm in high school... which ones should i get?Should i get gel or acrylic nails?
The best kind of nails you can get for the most natural look, and also quality are silk wraps. Silk wraps are done at most salons. The quality is fantasticShould i get gel or acrylic nails?
If you are getting the acrylic as an overlay, it is better for nail biters because it is harder. You will probably have to get them filled in every week for the first few weeks, but then just every other week. You can learn to do it yourself, it will save a lot of money. All you need is some creative Nail Design powder, Retention +, a red sable brush and some course and fine files, a buffer block and solar oil. Oh, and a little practice, you probably won't do a good job your first try.
Acrylics are better quality and I think they look better. Either one can scruff up your nail beds if they grind them up too much before applying the tips.
I also was a nail biter. I got acrylics on and it helped me stop but I have to keep replacing them or get them filled in for a while. I hear gels really tear up your nails and can't easily be taken off. Good Luck
anything that wud not discomfort u lot
I heard the gel is better. I haven't tried them yet, but I stopped getting acrylic put on my nails because it made my naturally healthy and strrong nails weak.
Acrylics - gels beat the crap outta your nails. My friend tried to soak them off and even used a belt sander on hers and couldn't get them off.
acylic is better
gel nails are healthier for your naturals but acrylic are stronger and last longer are cheater.
Don't get fake nails.. well both gels or acrylics are harmful in there own ways...gel nails are still a bit better than acrylic because it doesnt involve grinding the nail beds..whereas in acrylic nails -grinding nail beds just makes ur nails brittle even after u get rid of the fake nails... so if u are a nail biter ..try to eat a chewing gum to keep urself distracted !! cheers!!

Are press-on nails a healthier option as opposed to acrylic?
What are some of the pros and cons of press on nails? Is there any long term damage? Do you think theyre cheap looking? Whats the best brand and how do you apply them without getting air bubbles?
Sorry for the bombardment of questions, Ive been seeing the KISS commercials for press-on nails and to me they look like theyre worth a try. Thank you in advance for your adviceAre press-on nails a healthier option as opposed to acrylic?

How can i remove acrylic nails without going to a salon?
before you take them off
* make sure *
you have nail hardener/strengthener/growth serum
seriously.
I had them and got them off and my nails have never really been prone to splitting or peeling.. but they looked a STATE when i took them off.
theyve been off for two weeks now and even with constant moisturising %26amp; applying nail strengthener they still arnt perfect :(
to take them off ..
you can soak them in hot, soapy water for about 10 minutes and gentle peel them off.
or soak them in nail varnish remover that has acetone in it and then gently peel them off.
-just remember to be patient and if they dont come off all the way straight away just soak the rest for another couple of minutes.
and remember afterwards to moisturise your hands and nails and apply
lots of special nail hardener/strengthener/growth serum..
and you should be fine !

Most drugstores have acetone - it may be marked specifically as ';acrylic nail remover';. Soak them in this. Be patient - do not rip or tear the nails off. Follow up with a good cuticle and hand moisturizer, as this may dry out your skin.
Buy 100% acetone nail polish remover at any drug store. Its supercheap. Then pour some in a bowl and let your nails soak in it for about 15-20 min. It may take longer or shorter than that. Your nails should be able to come off using the right nails tools. Then remember to buff away the leftover glue.
The way my salon does it can easily be done at home. They just cut the acrylic nail short with clippers, then they use an unused acrylic nail (because it's so thin) to slide under the attached acrylic nail and the natural nail until the fake one just pops off. Then they just file off any remaining acrylic. It was amazing to see how quick and easy the process was!

:)How can i remove acrylic nails without going to a salon?
soak for a long time in nail polish remover and try to chip and peel offHow can i remove acrylic nails without going to a salon?

What can you use to remove false acrylic nails?
Soak them in a nail polish remover containing acetone. It may take a while, but they'll come off cleanly. What can you use to remove false acrylic nails?
I'm pretty sure that acetone nail varnish remover does the trick. You have to pour it into a bowl and dip your fingers in until it starts melting and you should be able to ease them off.
Good Luck! What can you use to remove false acrylic nails?
soak your nails in nail polish remover (acetone)
get them taken off at the salon, or you can stick a small like fyler underneath em and peel them off yourself, ive done it..it hurts lol
liquid nitrogen.
if you go to a beauty supply place they sell the acetone to take them off otherwise ditto soak them in nail polish remover but be prepared it takes ages
a pick axe lol
soack them in nail polish remover... or go to a salon and get them taken off it takes less time...
use a acetone based nail varnish remover. place your fingers in a bowl with the nail varnish remover in. after a while it should all rub off. and you'll prob get high off the smell :)
false acrylic nail remover.
i'd say cut the fake nails as low as you can get them and use the fial on the nail clippers to pry them off.i did that.doesnt hurt either.
soak them in 100% acetone...u can find this at any beauty supply store(sallys beauty supply). they will come off right away...

you soak your nails into nail polish remover and the false nails will come off or go to your nail salon and they will take them off for you. :)

Try soaking them in nail polish remover. Either put your fingers in a bowl of it or soak cotton wool with it and secure pieces of that to your finger tips with tin foil. Try either of those for maybe 10 mins. I think that works.
You can buy acetone from boots or the like for removing false nails if they were done in a salon, but be prepared it can take hours to get them off...or you can pay a salon to remove them for you........if you put them on yourself with nail glue then you can buy nail glue remover which soaks into the glue and softens it...good luck
soak ur nails in nail polish remover that contains acetone.
Pure acetone. Do not bother with nail polish remover, it takes FOREVER!
Finger Nail Clippers
I Personally Soak Them In Warm Water For 30 Mins.. Then I Bite Them Off They Come Off Easy That Way
nail polish..but the best one not to have problem like this is not to have false nails at all...there is nothing better than having your own natural long nails...

Will mineral oil lift acrylic nails?
Maria has been doing my nails for six years and I have never had problems. This time, half my nails have lifted within a week. The only thing different I have been doing is useing mineral oil instead of lotion to combate dry skin. I don't believe she is doing anything different. Will mineral oil lift acrylic nails?

Wut do they mean by ';fill'; ur acrylic nails?
I'm getting mine filled tomorrow, wut are they going to do?Wut do they mean by ';fill'; ur acrylic nails?
When 2 weeks pass, you natural nails grow some and you can start to see where your nails are and where the acrylics are. Most women don't like this and get a fill. The nail tech will check you acrylics for ';lifting'; (starting to not stick to your natural nail), prep your new nail that just grew out, and reapply Acrylics to those areas. Also, if you have a set of pink%26amp;whites (an acrylic French Manicure) every fourth week you will need to get a backfill for the white portion.Wut do they mean by ';fill'; ur acrylic nails?

after you have acryllic nails for a while, they start to grow off your real nails, so at the roots by your cuticles, show ur real nail (if that makes any sense) so the fill that area back up so it is acryllic again. kinda hard to explain but i hope you get it!

i personally dont think u should get them at all,
they are bad for u real nails

Acrylic Nails? How do I shorten them?
I just got my nails done and am vacationing in a town that has no nail shop/tech. My problem is they are to long! Can I trim them and file them or will it look terrible! What is the best way to do this?Acrylic Nails? How do I shorten them?
Don't attempt to shorten them yourself, it will mess them up big time. I had acrylics when I was younger, and decided I wanted them shorter, and oh my gosh, they looked so bad. They go all thick and rough, as you need the proper tools, so you should definately wait until you can find a nail salon to do it for you. But, I understand that it is so bad when you have a beautiful set of nails that are just too long to be comfortable. You can, if you really want to attempt doing it yourself, by using a 240-grit nale file, but I would not advise it. Wait if you can..Acrylic Nails? How do I shorten them?
just file them down youll be fine, if not go to target or something they should sell a specific nail clipper, but if not just file them down!
actually that may be the best way..or jus deal with it til u get home
Use a file not a clipper. Since your nails are acrylic the clipper would probalby wind up cracking the nail, then you'd have a whole new bag of worms to deal with.
i dont recon you should shorten them if someone says something just say stuff you *****
Clip and file girl they will look great...............................
file them but be careful that you dont mess them up, because thats really easy! lol, but I wouldnt trim them, its easier to mess up

Acrylic Nails,.. how often do you have infills?
I no everyones nails grow at different speeds but how often do you have your infills done?Acrylic Nails,.. how often do you have infills?
Every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.Acrylic Nails,.. how often do you have infills?
Every 2 weeks. Sometimes 3 if your nails do not grow very fast. All depends on your nail growth really.
I normally get them done at about 2 weeks sometimes depending on how ruff the two weeks were i can usually get away with 3 but i also do the white tips so when my color starts to chip (i' a hairdresser and paralegal so my fingers are very well used) i can remove it and just add a clear coat and i'm good to go. I also noticed the french tip looks more natural with the white tips instead of the clear . .funny thing is I never used ot get the white tip for about 7 years but about 2 months ago i felt dearing in the nail salon and said lets just do it took off the old set and put this set on and i love them! if you don't do them and never have you should try the white tips next time or in how ever long it will be for you too get your nails refilled, i suggest no more then 3 weeks

Acrylic nails - got water underneath one?
I had on acrylic nails for about 3 months. When I got them removed, one of my nails had a green spot on it. The nail tech told me there was nothing she could treat it with and to just let the nail grow out. Is she right? It looks disgusting. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? Does it need to be treated? I thought maybe it was a fungus but I saw another post that said its more like mildew which makes sense. Any ideas or tips?Acrylic nails - got water underneath one?
It is nothing major, and nothing to go rushing off to see a doctor about. For some really good information on the 'greenies,' read this short article which was written by a very well known, and well respected icon in the nail industry:

Tanning ruins my acrylic nails?
Is it the DHA in the tanning lotion that discolors them or is it then tanning itself that discolors them?
Someone recommended wearing latex gloves. I'm assuming they meant just to put the lotion on. But is it just the lotion or the tanning?Tanning ruins my acrylic nails?
UV light from tanning beds often causes people's fingernails to turn yellow, especially if you have acrylics or other fake nails. But now there is a special tanning bed accessory that can prevent the yellowing of fingernails whenever you go tanning.
Nail Savers are little plastic covers for your nails that prevent UV light from discoloring your nails. Nail Savers are sold ten in a pack and can be used over and over. Most higher end tanning salons carry them.Tanning ruins my acrylic nails?
im pretty sure its not the lotion...i think it is the tanning. They have these little cover things that just go over your nails so they wont turn colors and you wont have a huge tan lines from whole gloves.
The lotions can discolor the nails with the bronzers in them. But the tanning bed is also part of the problem and yeah you can buy tip covers at your local beauty supply store, they're fairly cheap too. Latex gloves do help but will leave a line eventually.
its the tanning not the lotion.
at my salon they have a clear topcoat you can put on your nails to prevent the ugly yellow color
they are called UV Blocking topcoats
it's the dha. but many things can stain your acrylic nails. wear the gloves or be more careful applying it. if you already have it on, nail polish remover (nonacetone) will get most off and you can get the rest out by buffing or using hydrogen peroxide. good luck!

I was always made fun of in school for having 'gross nails' because they were VERY long! My longest was a little over 3/4 inch I think. But sadly I had to cut them because I was getting harassed too much for them.
So there is my fingernail story!
I just keep mine long. If I snap one then Ill cut all of them to the same lenght.
I am always keep my nails neat, altho i will sometimes let pink varnish flake as it gives me a slight punky look that i like sometimes :)

How to remove artificial acrylic nails?
i just got my nails done a few days ago at a salon and i have nooo idea how i should take them off.... when i used to get them done i used to just clip them off but the nail under that grew out would come off too... and when i tried acetone nail polish remover i soaked them in it for 45 minutes and they wouldnt budge.... can anyone help?!?!How to remove artificial acrylic nails?
Don鈥檛 ever try clipping the old acrylic nails. It can be quite painful and can cause damage. The best way is to use acetone and cuticle oil.
Here鈥檚 how it works
路Apply Vaseline on fingers and cuticles
路Take a bowl of acetone to soak your hands in it for a while. It鈥?better to use warm acetone than that at room temperature since it works faster on the nails. You can warm it by putting the acetone bowl in another bowl of hot water. Do not ever heat the acetone in a microwave or on the gas stove. Acetone is a highly inflammable chemical and can be quite hazardous.
路Cover the acetone bowl with a clean towel to avoid evaporation
路Keep the fingers in acetone for at least 15 minutes if it is warm and for about 30 minutes if it is at room temperature. Remember, the longer you keep it, the better since the acrylic will wear off easily and faster.
路Once the water becomes gummy, (which is the acrylic melting off), you can remove the rest of it by wiping it off with the towel dipped in acetone. Do not try to remove the acrylic before it is ready to peel off else it will begin to harden again and you will have to undergo the entire process again. An alternative method for acrylic nail removal is as under:How to remove artificial acrylic nails?
Did you try the 100% Acetone nail polish?
Thats how u get them off, by using acetone, and yes they have to soak. Why are u taking them off so soon??
ask the ppl at the salon u went to.. they would probably help
go to the salon and have them removed. they will look and feel a lot better. only cost about $5 dollars
fill a large bowl with hot water. set a smaller bowl of acetone inside the large bowl. this will gently warm the acetone. cover your fingers in petroleum jelly (to protect them from the acetone). put your hands in the small bowl of acetone and drape a towel over the large bowl. this will hold the heat in. every ten minutes try to rub off the softened layer of acrylic nail. eventually the entire nail will loosen leaving behind your natural nail. acetone is very harsh though so don't expect your nails to be super healthy. it works though. i've done it before.
I normally get gel nails but im assuming the technique is the same- im not sure why soaking them does not work
id suggest going back to the salon and paying 10 bucks to get them removed but they are going to do it the same way you are trying.. they soak them then get them off
i tried soaking them but that didn't help, so i used a hair clip (beret i think that is spelled right) and slid it underneath the nail and slowly worked it off. it was painful but i tried everything

i tried soaking them but that didn't help, so i used a hair clip (beret i think that is spelled right) and slid it underneath the nail and slowly worked it off. it was painful but i tried everything
I just got my first set of acrylic nails, how long should I wait before getting them filled?
In order to maintain them properly so they look nice and so you don't get nail fungus, they need to be filled every two to three weeks. Depends on how fast your nails grow.I just got my first set of acrylic nails, how long should I wait before getting them filled?

I really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
I heard that the can permantley damage your nails. i know plenty of people who have them and they llok sooo cute! Have you ever had them? or heard they are bad for your natural nail???I really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
I have had mine for about 5 years now and i would nerver go without them again. they do weaken your natural nail a bit but a few wks later they are fine. Just make sure about every 6 months you get them taken off and a new set put back on so your wont get an infection. But any good nail salon will tell you when you need to do thatI really want to get french tips (acrylic nails w/ a french manicure), I was really convinced until...?
-if you won't to get rid of them try soaking them off in pure acetone
-or just let them grow out by themselves it will be ugly but this way it won't damage your nails.
Well, yes I have heard that they can permanetly damage you're nails. But, i've had them done before and yes they may damage you're nail a little. But as long as you pamper you're nails after they come off they should be fine.
I've gotten these b 4 and they may look cute but they don't just 'fall' off you have to pull them off and it can be not so nice for a feeling, plus when they come off they do take some of ur nail off, usually. I've gotten them and i was happy with them while i had them but they do make ur nails weaker till they grow back
it's way bad for your nails, and once you decide to get them off you have to wait months for them to grow out and look good again
Yes, when you take them off you'll see your nails have been indented in, they will be weak, brittle, and possibly yellow. It takes a while for them to grow back and be healthy again, just go for a well-groomed manicure with french, red, or black.
It's fine don't worry about it, my sister, her friends and other people I know have done it, there are no problems involved with any of them. What you heard is probably one of those rare cases. Freaky things can happen from anything.
it does indeed weaken your nails. i've only had my nails done with acrylic twice, i did not like what it did to my nails so i stopped going to the nail shop. my nails are fine now, no permanent damage. no more acrylic for me!! i've heard of the gel sets but i do not know if this is actually better for your nails, you may want to do some research.
Anytime you cover your nails, damage can occur. Permanently? I don't think so. Eventually, the damaged part of your nail will grow out. If your real nails grow and are strong, just get a French manicure--no acrylic. If they are damaged anyway, why not cover them. Once you start, however, remember you have to keep going back every 2-3 weeks to get fills.
All acrylic nails are bad for your natural nails........but the damage grows out eventually after you have them removed.
I have them right now. And i've had them alot before. But, you prolly heard one of the 1 out of whatever number cases. if you get them done, be SURE to check the health score the salon, if its lower than a 90, then they prolly dont clean things after every use. Or something.

Whats the easiest, least painful way to take off acrylic tip nails?
im really trying to find a least painful way to take off acrylic tip nails.any ideas?Whats the easiest, least painful way to take off acrylic tip nails?
In the shops, they soak it in acetone. If you can't get acetone, you can use acetone nail polish remover, but it takes a long time to soften up the acrylic. When it becomes soft, gradually slide something thin between the nail and the acrylic tip lift up if its soft enough. Do that until you finally get the nail off.
Non-acetone nail polish remover won't work. Make sure you get the acetone type.Whats the easiest, least painful way to take off acrylic tip nails?
dip ur fingers in nail polish remover for about 5 minutes then try...good luck!
Soak your nails in nail polish remover. Then wash hands with warm water, dry, and then rub in vitamine E oil.
it takes a while, but dip ur fingertips in ACCITONE nail polish remover and wipe and file as it comes off. it might take a couple hours but it works. otherwise go back to the nail place and have them do it. they will soak them in the accitone also but instead of just filing they will use the sander thing and file them smooth.
I would suggest soaking them and try to take them off very slowly or let the nail tec do it for you
